Alliance Receives Rachael Carson Award

The American Industrial Hygiene Association’s (AIHA) Environmental Issues
Committee presented the 2009 Rachael Carson Award to the Alliance for Chemical Safety at its annual meeting in Toronto, Canada in June 2009.

The AIHA presents this annual award to those individuals or organizations
that have achieved outstanding success and distinction in the environmental,
health, and safety field.

The Alliance earned the award for its volunteer work associated with chemical
safety education. The Alliance sponsors free monthly meetings on chemical safety topics, hosts workshops, undertakes community service projects, and educates the local community about Shelter In Place via local fairs and festivals.

Alliance for Chemical Safety Wins Community Award

The Alliance for Chemical Safety was awarded first place in the 2006 "Community Awards for Chemical Safety" competition hosted by the Chemical Educational Foundation (CEF).

The Alliance, which won in the 250,001 population and above category, received a trophy and was recognized on CEF's website (www.chemed.org).

The CEF Community Awards are designed to honor organizations that best display a commitment to public safety, industry partnerships, and chemical safety awareness education. Based in Arlington, Va., CEF is a national non-profit organization established by the National Association of Chemical Distributors.

"CEF applauds the Alliance for Chemical Safety for its outstanding efforts on behalf of the citizens of Hamilton County," says Laurel Brent of CEF. "The Alliance was selected as a first-place winner because of its visibility in the community, including strong community partnerships, open communications through public festivals, website and a
newsletter and through sponsorship of seminars and conferences."
