REACH Workshop – August 25, 2010
On August 25, 2010, the Alliance for Chemical Safety sponsored a “lunch and learn” workshop that focused on REACH, the European Community regulation on chemicals and their safe use. REACH stands for Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemical substances. This regulation affects American companies that market chemicals in Europe.
The guest speakers included Susan Harty of Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP in Columbus, Mark Vagasky, Principal of The Redstone Group in Dublin, Ohio, and Bayard Pelsor, Environmental Health and Safety Manager for the Shepherd Chemical Company in Norwood. Each gave a presentation and then participated in a Q&A panel discussion.
About 40 local industry representatives and consultants attended the event, held at Environmental Quality Management, Inc. in Forest Park.
Process Plant Buildings Siting Workshop – June 22, 2010
On June 22, 2010, the Alliance for Chemical Safety sponsored a “lunch and learn” workshop to discuss new siting requirements for permanent and portable process plant buildings, as established by recently modified API standards 752 and 753.
About 13 local industry representatives and consultants attended the event, held at the Shepherd Chemical Company in Norwood. |
