INEOS ABS received this award for the installation of a computerized system that provides control of each step in the manufacturing process and for upgrades of the thermal oxidizer and flare system. These projects have brought significant improvements to the site’s environmental performance. |

Mike Snowden, Director of Hamilton County Emergency Management and Homeland Security and Ed Dadosky, District Chief of Cincinnati Fire Department received this award for the distribution of emergency equipment and supplies worth $45 million over the region covering 12 counties, 3 states and multiple disciplines. Snowden and Dadosky created a unique and inclusive approach in effectively dealing with regional safety issues and needs. The Strategy includes equipment for each discipline:
- Response Equipment for Police, Fire, EMS and HazMat disciplines
- Personal Protective Equipment for all responders
- Decontamination Equipment for Fire, EMS, HazMat and Hospitals
- Command and Control Vehicles for all disciplines
- Interoperable Communications equipment for all disciplines

Jacqueline Patterson, Peer Review and Consultation Program Manager, Dan Briggs, Adjunct toxicologist, and Keith Mesch, 2008 ACS Chair. |
Jacqueline Patterson and Daniel Briggs of TERA (Toxicology Excellence for Risk Assessment) received this award for creating a peer consultation process for the development and review of risk documentation, particularly related to evaluating risks to children. The program has grown over 6 years to involve scientists from scores of organizations, both in the U.S. and abroad. The program has been so successful and the first of its kind, that attempts at congressional legislation are being made to continue it’s funding. |
